Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Libra does and does not do with your data. It covers the Libra app for iPhone and iPad and this website (libra-reader.com).

The short version: Libra has no account to sign up for, shows no ads, and sells nothing about you. The app works entirely with files you already own, and the small amount of anonymous diagnostic data it can send is optional and easy to turn off.

Effective date: 15 June 2026

Anonymous diagnostics (optional, off-switch in Settings)

Libra can send a small amount of anonymous information that helps us find crashes and understand which features are used. This is opt-out: you can turn it off at any time in Settings using the “Anonymous usage & crash data” switch. That switch is a single kill-switch that stops all of it.

When it is on, two kinds of anonymous data may be sent:

Sentry and Aptabase act as data processors on our behalf. Each has its own privacy policy linked above; data sent to them is subject to their retention and deletion policies.

What this data is not:

If a diagnostic key is not configured in a given build, nothing is sent at all.

Legal basis (GDPR): We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining a stable and functional app. Because the data is anonymous and the switch to disable it is prominent and easy to use, we consider this interest proportionate. You can object at any time by turning the switch off.

Your cloud storage connections

Libra can connect to cloud storage you already use — Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Yandex Disk, and iCloud — so you can read books you keep there.

OPDS catalogs

Libra lets you add OPDS catalogs — online book catalogs you choose. When you add one, the app fetches the catalog listing and book content directly from that third-party server, over the network. Those servers are operated by whoever you chose to add, not by us, and their use is governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

iCloud / CloudKit sync

If you use iCloud sync, your reading data — such as your library and reading progress — syncs through your own private iCloud account. We run no server that holds your data; this sync stays between your devices and Apple’s iCloud.

What Libra does not do

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no personal data on our servers, most data subject rights apply to what the third-party processors (Sentry, Aptabase) hold — and the simplest way to exercise them is to turn off the diagnostics switch, which stops all further collection.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@libra-reader.com and we will assist you or direct your request to the relevant processor.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Security

All network traffic initiated by the App — optional diagnostics and the official cloud-provider sign-in and sync (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Yandex Disk, iCloud) — uses HTTPS/TLS.

One exception is in your hands: an OPDS catalog you add yourself connects to whatever address you supply. If you enter a plain http:// address, that connection is not encrypted. The security of that traffic depends on the catalog you chose to add.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and notify you via a notice in the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
