Requirements
- Libra on each iPhone or iPad where you want to read.
- The same Apple account signed in to iCloud on those devices.
- Libra Pro and reading-data sync enabled on each device.
- A network connection when sending or receiving changes.
This iCloud sync feature is for Apple devices. It does not provide reading-data sync with Android.
What is synced
- Reading position, progress and finished status.
- Bookmarks, highlights and attached notes.
- Book ratings and reviews.
- User collections and the books assigned to them.
Book files and cloud-service connections are not transferred by reading-data sync. Reader text and layout settings are also separate from the synced data.
Enable reading-data sync
- Open Settings in Libra. If Pro is not active, the Sync reading data row offers an Unlock button.
- With Pro active, turn on Reading progress on all devices.
- Repeat on your other device. Use the refresh button beside the setting to request Sync now.
The setting shows the current status and the time of the last successful sync.
Make the same book available on both devices
Connect the source containing your books on each device, or import the same files into On My Device on each one. Syncing reading data does not copy the files for you.
Libra matches books by content. The same title and author are not enough: another edition, a modified file or a conversion from EPUB to PDF can be a separate book.
For example, use the same EPUB file on your iPhone and iPad to share its reading position and notes. If you use an EPUB on one device and a PDF on the other, their reading data remains separate.
Storing books in iCloud Drive or another cloud service and syncing reading data are configured separately.
If progress has not appeared
- Check that sync is enabled and Pro is active on both devices.
- Check the status in Settings. Sign in to your Apple Account indicates that iCloud needs an account.
- With both devices online, request Sync now on the device you last used, then on the other device.
- If sync completes but the book’s progress is still different, check that both devices have the same book file.
Turn off sync
Turn off Reading progress on all devices in Settings on the device where you want to stop syncing. This setting controls reading-data sync; it does not disconnect the cloud services listed in Drives.
