Supported services and folders
Libra reads from its own folder on each service, including any subfolders. Files elsewhere in your account do not appear in the app.
| Service | Folder used by Libra |
|---|---|
| Google Drive | The Libra folder at the top of your Drive. Libra creates it on first connection if it does not exist. |
| Dropbox | The app folder allocated to Libra by Dropbox. |
| OneDrive | The app folder allocated to Libra by OneDrive. |
| Yandex Disk | The app folder allocated to Libra by Yandex Disk. |
| iCloud Drive | The app’s iCloud folder, shown as Libra in the Files app on iPhone and iPad. |
Connect a cloud service
Open Drives
Tap the + button at the top of the screen. On a wider screen, the button is labelled Add source.
Choose the service
Under Cloud storage, tap Add next to the service you want to connect.
Complete the connection
For Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Yandex Disk, follow the sign-in and authorisation prompts. iCloud Drive uses the Apple account signed in on your device.
After connecting, Libra scans the service’s app folder for books. If the folder is empty, add files as described below.
Add books and refresh the library
Use the cloud service’s website or app to copy books into its Libra folder. For example, after connecting Google Drive, open Drive on your computer and copy an EPUB file into the Libra folder.
You can organise files into subfolders. Libra preserves that folder structure when you browse the source in Drives. See the supported file formats before adding files.
Return to Drives and tap the refresh arrow next to the service. When the scan finishes, the new books appear in the library. Opening a folder in Drives does not start a scan.
Libra also checks connected sources when the app starts and when you open Library, but it may skip a check if it scanned the source recently. Use the refresh button when you want to check for changes immediately.
Adding or deleting cloud files
Libra does not upload books to cloud services or delete files from them. Use the service’s own app or website for those actions, then refresh the source in Libra.
When files are downloaded
Libra downloads files as needed to read them and to extract information such as the book’s title and cover. This processing can start in the background after a scan, before you open a book.
A book appearing in Library does not mean its file is saved for offline reading. Files downloaded for background processing can be removed from local storage afterwards. You need an internet connection whenever Libra needs to fetch a file from the service.
Disconnect a cloud service
Open Settings and find the service in the Cloud section. Tap the trash icon next to it, then confirm with Disconnect.
Libra clears the saved connection details and removes that source’s files from Library and Drives. It does not delete the files in your cloud account.
Reading progress, bookmarks and highlights are retained. Reconnecting the same source restores access to its books and their saved reading state.
Common questions
Why can’t I connect iCloud Drive?
On your iPhone or iPad, check that you are signed in to iCloud and that iCloud Drive is enabled for Libra in the device’s settings.
Does connecting a cloud service sync my reading progress?
Connecting a service gives Libra access to book files. Reading progress, bookmarks and other reading data are synced separately through iCloud. That sync feature requires Libra Pro.
Can I add an OPDS catalog?
Yes. Choose OPDS catalog from Add source. You can browse the catalog and download individual books to On My Device. Adding a catalog does not add all of its books to Library. See OPDS catalog instructions.
